We were at Kendall Campground the first 2 weeks of August but we're a bit behind on posting. Blame it on all the adventures and the campfire calling our names.
So here we go.
We're still in Kentucky. Our goal this year is to spend a month in each state (but different parts) to truly experience it.
Some of the things we saw along the way to Kendall Campground. Barn stars are big thing down this way. Saw tons of them on every barn.
We finally made it to the campground and boy oh boy that dam was breath taking, well at least to me. Pasquale turned a white and all he could say was "Did I ever tell you my #1 fear in life is of drowning." as he's looking up at the dam.
So yeah.
Wolf Creek Dam is 175 feet tall and the water temp is a constant 42 degrees. That's why the mist is over the top of it.
Mammoth Caves
Decided to take a 2 hour trip to Mammoth caves. We stayed in a hotel room room for the night so we could have more time looking around. Brandi and Miles slept on the king size beds.
We went exploring on our own. This was at the end of a walk that was a mile straight down which was easy going down but rough on the way back up. It was 100degrees out that.
Some more cool picks of Mammoth Caves and us exploring on our own.
This is the very beginning of the caves. We go exploring and find the darndest things on our own. These are some of the actual entrance to the caves. We didn't go in too far as you can see it's a little spooky...and dark and dangerous.
Some history, caves and hiking
We met this young lady, Seija (15) and her grandparents while hiking in the woods near the cave. They are bringing her to aviation camp for 2 weeks. Her dream is to become a pilot. Her other love in life is rocks, so that's why they stopped here.

We only had 2 more days back at the campsite so Pasquale broke out his tools and made some shelves for the closet. Now it's better organized and more functional. And our new sign, Chasing the Sun.
We headed out to Big Bone Lick to see some buffalo. That'd be our last campground in Kentucky.
I love the people you meet along the way.
Mom - if nothing else, this trip has done wonders for your picture taking skills - good stuff!!!!!
Those caves looked cool. Remember the one in PA & we got to take a boat through it.
