We weren't sure what to expect but we didn't expect what we found. This state is pretty impressive. Here's a little bit from our journey at Canal Campground and all the adventures we went on.

We have arrived at Canal Campground. And it was a long day. We hit a detour which brought us to the middle of a corn field but a few phone calls and we were on our way again.

This little girl was our welcoming committee. She came back later with her fawn

Our home for the next 14 days.

Some more of our views from the campground.

Hey Gary, look what we have.

On our second night we saw the elk. These animals are just beautiful. They still have velvet on their antlers.

That iron is amazing and that's tobacco drying.

On our way home we stopped at an iron smelt furnace. A lot of enslaved people worked in these. So when slavery was finally abolished, they all shut down.

One day we took the ferry over to Illinois to check it out.

Have you ever seen the movie "How the west was won"? Well that first picture is the exact picture from the movie (but we took it) the others are from the inside looking out.

First picture is a place called Camel Rock. The view was amazing. I'm afraid of heights so I stayed back but Pasquale ventured out a bit. But not too far.

The first quilt is called tumbling blocks.

The last two are doll house beds and furniture. The beds are 5x7" and the quilt work is just beyond my wildest imagination. Never could I do anything that small. They quilt squares are 1/8" and 1/16".

Our last few days here I made some new curtains while Miles tried on our hats. It stormed pretty bad here last night and our fire wood is all wet.

We did manage to finally get a short 2.5 mile hike in before we left Canal Campground. The land between the two lakes was a great area with lots of nature and was so funny being able to go to two other states from Kentucky.

Headed out in the morning.
